Vehicle Story
Entertainment Arts (EA) wanted an American "Hero" muscle car to be the feature car for it's 2011 "Need For Speed - The Run" (NSF) video game. All of the previous NSF video games had featured foreign import cars. EA commissioned Andy Blackmore of Andy Blackmore Design to design the feature car. www.andyblackmoredesign.com After the design was completed, EA contacted Shelby American to build this one of a kind muscle car. Mr. Carroll Shelby agreed to build the car but only if it was auctioned off in 2012 to support the Carroll Shelby Foundation. EA and Shelby American agreed and began building this one of a kind muscle car. Unfortunately, this would be the last custom built Shelby car Mr. Carroll Shelby had direct involvement in before his passing in 2012. Due to Mr. Shelby's death, the Super Snake was not auctioned off and remained in the Shelby Estate for 5 years. It was finally sold in 2017 at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Las Vegas, Nevada to a car collector from Boerne, Texas. The new owner garaged the car until 2022 and sold it to the present owner in May 2022.
Shelby built the NSF Super Snake for power and performance on the race track. 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, 750+ horsepower, 590 ft/# torque, 5.4L aluminum engine, 6 speed manual transmission, one piece aluminum drive shaft, 3.73:1 differential, Ford Racing suspension, Ford RacingWhipple Supercharger, HRE Racing Wheels and a 3,200 watt JVC stereo system are just a few of the many special things about this car. Mr. Gary Patterson of Shelby American drives and talks about the NSF Super Snake in this YouTube video: The Making of Need For Speed The Run - Shelby Super Snake Hero Car.
